As we’re getting busier, we thought we’d do a spotlight post on our wonderful staff!

And we’re starting with the Managing Director, Geoff Green…

So, Geoff, why did you choose a career in Structural Engineering?

It just seemed like a logical step. I excelled in Maths & Science at school, plus my father was a Structural Engineer too.

What has been the most memorable/challenging moment for you?

It definitely has to be when Covid struck. It’s memorable for all the wrong reasons as it was a difficult period and came with a lot of challenges. There was a lot of moving pieces which were difficult to keep up with, but we made it through and we’re going strong now.

What do you like most about your job?

When things go well. When a solution proposed fixes the issue at hand and allows progress to be made.

What’s the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?

To build a good team and to communicate clearly. It’s the easiest way to avoid mistakes.

And lastly, what is one piece of advice you would give to someone starting out in Structural Engineering?

My best advice would be to get as much exposure to the full life cycle of a project as you can, it really helps to understand where you are from start to finish.

What’s your favourite structure in the world?

The Millau Viaduct – it’s been my favourite for years and that answer hasn’t changed.
