Why did you choose a career in Structural Engineering?

I enjoyed Maths and Physics at school , and also have an aptitude for problem solving. Engineering also runs in the family

What has been the most memorable moment for you?

Passing my MICE exam

What has been the most challenging part?

Convincing builders to work to the drawings issued to them , rather than going ‘off piste’ in an attempt to save time or money

What do you like most about your job?

The fact that the calculations and drawings produced become (in most cases) a physical end product that our Clients benefit from

What’s the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?

Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone when you need to

What’s your favourite structure in the world?

The CN Tower in Toronto

And lastly, what is one piece of advice you would give to someone starting out in Structural Engineering?

Make sure that you are choosing Engineering for the right reasons, and that you are committed to becoming a Chartered Engineer within 5 years
