Renovation of lower ground floor to facilitate change of use to restaurant, design of permanent and temporary works
The lower ground floor of this substantial building on Piccadilly was drastically altered to accommodate the change of use to a restaurant and bar. The structural design was made all the more important by the constant occupation of the upper floors by offices that could not be disturbed.
By working closely with the landlord’s engineer, GSE were able to meet the strict requirements set for safeguarding the upper floors of the building whilst still achieving our clients preferred layouts where possible.
The construction programme on this project was very tight so design alterations to the permanent works had to be carried out quickly and efficiently. The temporary works design that GSE undertook on behalf of the contractor needed to be robust to pass the careful scrutiny of the landlord’s engineer whilst still being practical to install and work around.
