GSE was entrusted with a significant project by London Green Ltd, involving the structural design for the conversion of an existing office block into an impressive residential development comprising 106 units. This ambitious undertaking required substantial changes to the current façade, as well as the addition of an extra storey to provide additional living space.

The existing 6-storey office block served as the foundation for our transformative design. One of the key aspects of the project was the substantial alterations to the current façade. GSE collaborated closely with the developers and architects to create a striking exterior that harmoniously blends with the surrounding architectural landscape. By carefully considering the aesthetics, materials, and architectural elements, we were able to transform the office block into a visually appealing and inviting residential development, and to meet the growing demand for housing, an additional storey was incorporated into the design.

Green Structural Engineering were selected by Titan Property Developments Ltd to provide comprehensive structural design and below ground drainage design services for an expansive residential development located in Leatherhead, Surrey. The scope of our design involves creating a series of multi-storey structures using reinforced concrete frames with flat slab construction. These structures will serve as the foundation for the residential units, providing a solid and durable framework for the development. Additionally, an underground car parking facility will be incorporated beneath a transfer slab, maximizing the available space and convenience for residents.

One of the notable challenges of this project lies in the site’s natural slope. GSE’s expert team of engineers will leverage their technical expertise and innovative design solutions to effectively address the topographical complexities. Green Structural Engineering was entrusted with a prestigious project by Doveberry Ltd, involving the comprehensive structural design and below ground drainage design for an impressive block of flats situated in the desirable neighborhood of Maida Vale, London. The architectural vision for this development called for a multi-storey reinforced concrete framed structure constructed using flat slab construction techniques. This design approach not only provided flexibility in spatial arrangement but also ensured efficient use of materials, resulting in a sustainable and cost-effective solution.

To support the weight and stability of the structure, GSE employed mass concrete footings. These robust foundations were carefully engineered to distribute the loads evenly and provide a solid base for the entire building, ensuring long-term structural integrity and stability. GSE also incorporating below ground drainage design into the project. By integrating drainage considerations into the overall design, we ensured seamless functionality and efficient management of stormwater and wastewater.

Green Structural Engineering proudly accepted the appointment by Titan Property Developments Ltd to oversee the comprehensive structural design and below ground drainage design for an impressive block of flats situated in the charming town of Horsham, nestled in the scenic landscape of West Sussex.

GSE were responsible for the detailed design of the transfer deck, supporting columns, shear walls, foundations as well as the below ground drainage for the project. The super structure is built out of cross laminated timber (CLT) and the specialist design of this was fully checked and appraised prior to construction. Finite element computer software was used to analyse and design the flat slab transfer deck due to the irregular layout of supporting columns and walls which resulted from maximising the car parking spaces in the under croft.

Supported on piled foundations, carefully engineered to accommodate the site’s sloping topography, the structure ensured stability and durability, even in challenging ground conditions.

By implementing innovative stormwater management techniques, such as permeable pavements, rain gardens, and attenuation systems, we aimed to minimize the environmental impact and enhance the overall sustainability of the development. GSE has been appointed to undertake the structural engineering design for Aston House, a new build development in Gerrards Cross. This impressive project involves the construction of 32 units of residential accommodation spread over 5 levels, along with surface car parking to the rear. To prepare the site for the new development, the existing office block will be demolished.

The structural design of Aston House includes reinforced concrete ground floor and 1st-floor transfer slabs, which will provide a sturdy foundation for the building. Above these, 4 levels of light gauge steel framed construction with thin concrete slab floors will be implemented. To ensure the stability and durability of the structure, piled foundations are envisaged, taking into consideration any existing piles that might be present on the site.

Our team of skilled professionals will collaborate closely with the developers to bring their vision to life, ensuring that the structural integrity of the building is upheld while seamlessly integrating the necessary modifications for a seamless residential conversion. This includes the innovative concept of filling in the 1st-floor atrium and incorporating two secondary staircases to maximize the available floor area, as well as utilizing the internal roof plant space to create a captivating upper level of 15 duplex apartments. Each of these luxurious apartments will be interconnected by an internal staircase, offering residents an unparalleled living experience.

The project comprises five apartments and four townhouses, combining modern living with timeless architectural aesthetics. The site’s historical significance, including an ancient moat and Bailey Castle, presented unique challenges for drainage, access roads, and foundations. GSE worked closely with archaeologists and heritage consultants to develop innovative design solutions that seamlessly integrated with the site’s historical elements. The superstructure of the development incorporates a combination of traditional construction and lightweight steel. This approach ensures structural stability, minimizes the weight of the top floor, and allows for adaptation to the archaeological areas while preserving the site’s integrity.

GSE’s scope of work also includes the meticulous planning and design of drainage systems, access roads, and landscaping. Sustainable stormwater management techniques were employed to minimize environmental impact, while careful consideration was given to traffic flow and aesthetics.
